But with the release of FaceRig, now people can get their first real peak of what one of these programs look like when they match your face in real-time and follow you around with your graphic. So from creating YouTube videos to speaking on Skype with someone, you can now use a program that will superimpose graphics over your face. This is a great way to remain anonymous, or to simply have fun and goof around with the person on the other end of the video.

Unlike those other programs that just allow you to paste something over an original image, FaceRig actually contains face mapping software that follows you around in real-time and not only places the graphic over your face but also allows it to move around with your facial expressions. So talking, smiling, laughing, blinking, and other facial movements are all mapped in microseconds and the graphic overlay will mimic whatever it is you're doing. Google Hangouts, Skype, and other applications can work well using this software, and it's pretty fun to use especially if you're not very serious with it.

What FaceRig is and How it Works

You can choose graphic overlays like a fox, a demon, a fairy, and all sorts of other characters with this software. One of the first things you may notice about this particular software is that it's not very large in size at all. You can download this on any type of PC, and you won't need a lot of space to do it. And since it really only has one overlay function, you don't need much RAM either. All you really need is a very solid Internet connection, as any lag in your ping is going to cause a lot of lag with the software. This isn't the software's fault; anything done like this in real-time will require a solid connection that offers a lot of speed and bandwidth.

The main idea behind this particular software program is that it allows a person to become a living avatar. Rather than having to post-edit a bunch of things and need a lot of editing skills with expensive software packages, this software pretty much does what a lot of movie studios pay people a lot of money to do. Now, of course, we're not talking about results that are extremely professional. But for the size, the functions, and the fact that it's free, you'd be hard pressed to find another program offering as much.
