- Improve Your Solidworks Models With Parametric Modeling: Have you ever wanted to edit your Solidworks models faster and more efficiently than you currently do? In this instructable I will go over Parametric modeling in Solidworks and how it can be used to improve efficiency.
- Dropdown ANSYS folder. Step 3: Right Click On CAD Configuration Manager, Run this as adminstrator. Step 4: Select SolidWorks and Workbench Associative Interface, then click next. Step 5: Click on Configure Selected CAD Interfaces.
- Geomagic for SolidWorks is a powerful plugin for SolidWorks software that allows you to turn real-world objects into digital and 3D models in SolidWorks via 3D scanning. Using this tool significantly reduces the time it takes to design 3D models of real-world objects.
SOLIDWORKS PlugIn deleteAnsRegistryXML SW failed, file C: Program Files ANSYS Inc ANSYS Student v192 commonfiles registry winx64 append SOLIDWORKS.Software.XML does not exist I tried to find this 'SOLIDWORKS.Software.XML ' file but i couldnt. So if anyone can help ill be grateful.
To import a surface to ANSYS in the Design Modeler, you will first need to create just the surface using a CAD program, such as Solidworks. Note that these instructions also apply to importing any part or assembly from Solidworks to ANSYS; you just need to skip the step in Solidworks on adding Surfaces.
Method I
In Solidworks:
- Right-click on the Features toolbar and add Surfaces if it is not already shown
- Choose the type of surface you would like to create (extruded, revolved etc.)
- Create your desired surface
- Save the surface as a .STP file
In ANSYS:
- Create your project
- Right-click Geometry
- Select Import Geometry
- Locate your file and select it
- Go into Design Modeler and Generate
Now you should be able to see your surface in Design Modeler.
Method II
After you have created the geometry in Solidworks and saved it:
In ANSYS
- Create your project
- Open Design Modeler
- Go to File>Attach Active CAD Geometry
- Click Generate
Now you can edit your Geometry in Solidworks and refresh it in Design Modeler after you have changed it.
To refresh the geometry in Design Modeler:
- In the Details window, click Refresh>Use Geometry Parameter Values
- Click Generate
Now your Geometry in Design Modeler will reflect the changes you made in Solidworks.
Method III
In Solidworks you can connect the geometry to Workbench:
- Go to Tools>ANSYS
ANSYS Workbench will then open with the Solidworks file attached:
- Drag the Geometry onto the Geometry of your project
- You can then update the geometry from your CAD file directly
Now you should be able to update your geometry in Solidworks and refresh it in ANSYS
I want to show you how to import Cad file such as Catpart/sldpart,... in Ansys workbench ..

Ansys Vs Solidworks
Build your component in SolidWorks
1. Draw the desired beam in the SolidWorks
2. Export the file into IGES format
File > Save as > Change the file type to “IGES (*.igs)” > Click “Options” > Change
the “Surface representation/System preference' from 'Standard' to 'ANSYS' > Click
'ok' to close 'Export Options' > Choose the folder and the name the file is saved >
Click 'ok'
Import file in ANSYS window
1. File Menu >Import > IGES > Click ok for the poped up dialog box > Click
'Browse' and choose the file saved from SolidWorks > Click ok to import the file.
